Casio’s Bluetooth Low Energy Watch prototype employs Nordic µBlueTM nRF8001 Single-Chip-Connectivity to wirelessly link to Bluetooth v4.0-equipped smartphones, enabling time synchronization, incoming call or message alerts, and misplaced handset alarm activation. The ultra-low power consumption of the nRF8001 ensures up to 2-years of battery life from the watch’s CR2032 coin cell with 12-hours per day of continuous wireless communication.
