Do you recommend requesting delivery receipt of SMS for M2M applications?
Yes and no.
It really depends on the application. A delivery of a SMS is 6 -10 seconds, up to hours and maybe never. In case of emergency SMS can be a risk. Worst case the GSM network is busy. A good example are public events like soccer games or outdoor music festivals in urban canyons. [...]
