WIFI for creating the IoT?

In the video they mention public #WIFI e.g. at airports. At Mobile World Congress #MWC 2013 WIFI had its one zone. If WIFI will rise in public locations like airports and railway stations it will rise in industrial applications as well.

WIFI in IoT – practical paradigm

I already guideline the development of applications where machines will be connected to the Internet by WIFI. Each machine will be a part of the Internet of Things (IoT). In general the machines are working as WIFI clients connected to a router. They use the same kind of communication link that the popular wireless thermostat, called Nest, has selected. Anyhow the machines do not have a WIFI Client only. They support a WIFI Access Point as well. They emulate a router. Any laptop, smart-phone or PDA with support of WIFI can connect direct to the machine. This is a very important feature for machine at maintenance. The maintenance technician will press a button at the machine and the machine will immediately start to communicate to the laptop. The laptop will run on WIFI Client. The technician does not need to get the password of the WIFI network. The maintenance job will be isolated from the traffic in the WIFI network. After finishing the job, the machine will move back to WIFI Client. The process makes the maintenance job secure and easy.
If you plan an own piece of wireless hardware connected to the #IoT than do not hesitate to drop an email to harald.naumann (at) gsm-modem.de . I will be glad to support your piece of the IoT  as well.
