A fairy tale comes true. Seven at one stroke. Besides WIFI 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz WIFI also ZigBee, Bluetooth Low Energy and Classic Bluetooth is integrated. In addition, the controller in the module can be used for an individual application. As interfaces for peripherals are I2C, I2S, SPI, QSPI, UART, GPIO, JTAG and analogue I/O available. IoT can now come true with one component. A device for healthcare, a wireless thermometer, a BLE to WLAN Bridge and much more – all reduced primarily to an approach with few components around it.
Who now would not swap its MCU can control the radio module on host interfaces (USB 2.0, SPI or UART). Thus, each 8-bit to 32-bit MCU is able to control the module.
An increase in the transmission rate can be achieved by TCP/IP stack running on an MCU (e.g. Renesas). The speed is limited primarily by the computing power of the MCU and the host interface.
Whosoever therefore wants to reach the maximum speed of 150 Mbps (MCS 0-7) with 802.11n relies on an embedded PC with SDIO. Drivers are available for Linux, Windows and Android.
