The ME50-169 Wireless M-Bus radio module featuring 25 mW output power
This license free radio module was specifically designed for meter reading in the 169 MHz band.
The M-Bus (Meter-Bus) is a European standard for remote reading of meters for electricity, gas and water. It started as a wired bus and was later on converted to wireless modules on 868 MHz. The latest in this range of remote metering are wireless modules on 169 MHz. The wireless module ME50-169 fits best in this range. Nevertheless, such module on wireless M-Bus will need antennas on 169 MHz. The benefit of 169 MHz is better coverage. The disadvantage shows in bigger and longer antennas. Anyhow, I am back to my roots, because 25 years ago I was working in a department close to the development of 2 meter, 4 meter and 70 cm radio. For 169 MHz I can support you with my knowledge aquired 25 years ago.
