I can carry my light antenna radiation pattern test system by car, train or aeroplane. The test reports have the same accuracy like with an electronic chamber. The main difference is price and size. The mobile antenna radiation pattern system is much smaller and cost Euro 14,000 only. To install a chamber will charge much more space and money. A room with 3 meter x 4 meter is for this mobile system big enough. The 2 minutes video is showing the measurement of the antenna radiation pattern at GSM 900 channel 62 including the second harmonic. We selected a Samsung S5 because the test set up is easy to understand. Under the turntable, you will detect a standard GSM tester with a directional antenna. This GSM tester emulates a base station. Our standard applications are wireless IoT devices on GSM, UMTS, LTE or NB-IoT. The turntable is moving in 10-degree steps, the directional antenna is measuring horizontal and vertical and after that, it is turning 10 degrees again. On the monitor, you can see the drawing of the pattern at each 10-degree step. Within a few minutes, the measurement is done. With this system, we test our antennas on its radiation performance and harmonics easy. Why I wrote the IoT M2M Cookbook
In my more than 20 years working with a manufacturer and in distribution I gave the same hints and recommendations to developers of wireless applications again and again. In May 2012 I made the decision to write the story that I have to tell weekly to customers in a book. The target is to guideline developers from the idea for an IoT / M2M device to a final product with mass production.
