To explain the latest  technologies we will use the Motorola Razr Droid, Google Nexus Prime and  Sony Ericsson ARC S for comparison. Within 30 minutes we will focus on  the non cellular radio links of these three phones. Nevertheless I would  like to mention, that the Motorola Razr Droid is one of the first Smart  Phones that is using the American GPS and the Russian Glonass for  navigation. The non cellular radio links are called NFC (Near Field  Communication), Bluetooth 2.1, Bluetooth 3.0, Bluetooth Smart (former  called Bluetooth Low Energy or Bluetooth 4.0), ANT+ and WIFI (several  standards). With all radio links you can make two way data  communication. With some of them you can make audio communication as  well. The differences are often in the communication speed, the range  and the power consumption. For some applications like an electronic  wallet or access control to a building or a car a short range is a big  benefit. The communication speed is often inverse to the power  consumption. With the range it is close the same. The new Bluetooth  Smart is a perfect compromise between range, power consumption and  communication speed. Anyhow, we will compare them all and give an  outlook and tips which communication channel is preferred for which  application. Right now no Smart Phone is supporting all upper mentioned  radio links. This will change quickly.
